Remmina is available to install in Ubuntu via the Software Centre. As the tool is able to provide a traditional GNOME desktop panel applet – which won’t be accessible in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty – it would be nice to see functionality for it ported over. One thing Remmina lacks is an indicator-applet (stop groaning at the back!). Remmina supports multiple network protocols in an integrated and consistent user interface, including RDP, VNC, NX, XDMCP and SSH. Written in GTK+, Remmina is useful for system administrators who need to work with lots of remote computers across all monitor sizes. This is what will allow you to access a computer remotely using Ubuntu. Remmina is the default remote desktop client in Ubuntu. We also have to install a remote client, as is the case with Remmina. However, if you have a previous version, the process will be similar, although specific things may vary slightly. Vinagre was suggested as sole default but its RDP support, which allows graphical connection to computers running Windows, remains in beta and unlikely to be made stable before April 2011 and the release of Ubuntu 11.04 In our case we are going to test it with Ubuntu 21.10, which is the latest available. The will to replace it in Natty with a more capable client was expressed at Octobers Ubuntu Developers Summit. TSClient ( Terminal Server Client) will be removed completely having been deemed to be growing long in the tooth.
